Assigning Tasks

Dispatch structured fieldwork to your team using published task templates.

Once a Task Template is published, you can use it to create and assign tasks to yourself or anyone on your team. Assignments ensure that field data is collected on time, in a consistent format, and tied to the correct farm and field.

Where You Assign Tasks

You can assign tasks from two places:

  1. Manage Tasks → Task Template List Each template shows an Assign Task action.

  2. Task Template Side Panel When you click a template, a right-side panel opens with:

    • List of previously created tasks

    • Button to Create New Task

Both paths open the same assignment form.

The Task Assignment Form

This form is displayed in a side panel and includes the following sections:

1. Select Task Template

The template is pre-filled based on where you clicked Assign Task. This template defines the form that the assignee will complete.

2. Farm Selection

Choose the farm where the task applies. Only farms where you have permission will appear.

3. Schedule Settings

Set the timeline for the task.

  • Due Date — When the task must be completed

  • (Optional future update: repeating schedules)

4. Select Field

Choose the specific field within the selected farm.

Templates often require field-level data, so field selection is important.

5. Task Name

Enter a short internal label, e.g.:

  • “Irrigation Check – West Block”

  • “Cover Crop Review – Week 1”

This name appears in the assignee’s My Tasks list.

6. Priority

Set urgency for team visibility.

  • Low

  • Medium

  • High

Priorities help workers sort and plan tasks.

7. Assign User

Choose who should complete the task.

  • Only users with access to the farm will appear

  • You may assign tasks to yourself

Once saved, the task appears instantly in the assignee’s My Tasks list (mobile app and web).

8. Submit Task

Click Assign New Task to finalize. Assigned tasks can then be tracked under Manage Tasks and in the assignee’s personal task views.

Managing Existing Tasks

After assigning a task, it appears in the template’s side panel:

  • View task details

  • Edit task metadata

  • Delete a task

  • Filter by status or due date

Task statuses include:

  • Pending (not yet completed)

  • Overdue (due date passed)

  • Completed

Users update status by submitting the task form from the web or mobile app.
