Step 1: Farm Details

Entering Core Information for Your New Farm

The first step in the onboarding wizard is to provide basic information about your farm. This information is used to initialize the farm’s dedicated data environment, which Carbonleap uses to generate satellite analytics, weather feeds, alerts, and crop models.

What You Provide in This Step

Farm Name

A simple name to identify your farm. You can edit this name later through Settings → Manage Farms → Edit Farm.

Farm Type

Carbonleap currently supports:

  • Open-Sky Farms (field-based agriculture)

Greenhouses or other closed systems are not yet supported, so "Open-Sky Farm" is selected by default.

Optional Notes

Any additional farm-level information you want to record. These notes do not affect analytics or modeling but may be useful for reference.

What Happens After You Complete This Step

When you proceed to the next step:

  • Your farm shell is created

  • A dedicated data pod (isolated environment) is initialized

  • You are taken directly to Step 2: Add Fields

No satellite or weather data is processed yet. That begins after final activation in Step 3.

Editing Farm Details Later

You can edit farm details at any time through: Settings → Manage Farms → Edit Farm

Editing farm details triggers a change order, which ensures all dependent data stays consistent. During a change order, the farm may temporarily enter a pending state and become read-only until the update is processed.

After completing this step, continue to Step 2: Add Fields, where you draw or add the boundaries that define your farm’s acreage.
